An historic mountain lodge for shinto pilgrims situated on Mt. Mitake. The most suitable location for vacationing in a calm atmosphere. "Komadori Sanso", a moutnainlodge of "the Japanese robin birhd" is a century-old mountain lodge for pilgrims originally opened in 1776, is located near the Mitake Shrine on Mt. Mitake. The Mitake Shrine is considered the symbol of "mountain worship" and is the supreme Sacred Mountain of the Kanto area. It is said that this shrine was built in 736 by a monk named Gyoki and that he held a religious ceremony called Zao Gongen (the reincarnation of Zao). The Treasurehouse of the shrine has an exhibit of Japanese swords and suits of armor, including the Akaito Odoshi Oyoroi (Red Thread Armor, a national treasure) that belonged to the famed warrior Shigetada Hatakeyama (1164-1205).
